After six years as a UC Capital, captain Jade Melbourne has informed the club she will not be returning for the upcoming season.

Melbourne taking to social media to share the announcement, where she said she’s continuing her basketball journey with another team.

“I walked into the Caps as an eager 18-year-old, since then I’ve grown so much and had six of the most amazing years representing the Caps,” Melbourne said.

“As I continue to pursue my goals as a player, I’ve decided to take on a new opportunity and create a new chapter in my basketball journey with another WNBL team.”

UC Capitals Executive General Manager Christy Collier-Hill said Melbourne’s influence extends far beyond her achievements on the court.

“While we’re naturally disappointed to see her move on, we’re immensely proud of everything she has achieved in Capitals colours and grateful for the impact she’s had on our club, our members and the Canberra community.”

The WNBL has announced that Jade Melbourne has committed to the Bendigo Spirit for the upcoming season.
