The ACT Government has announced an additional $500,000 to support young people at risks of entering the justice system.

Through the Project 180 program, the funds will help provide trauma-informed support through mentoring, education and vocational pathways.

Project 180 participants are shown to have a 86 per cent non reoffending rate, and more than half achieve vocational qualifications or improved wellbeing outcomes.

Nearly a dozen participants graduated from the intensive 20-week program today, recognised for taking significant steps toward education, training and employment pathways.

Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Dr Marisa Paterson said it’s encouraging to see participants complete the program and take positive steps toward their future.

“The program supports young people when they’re ready to make a change, helping them reconnect with education, training and employment, and reducing the likelihood of reoffending.”
