Organ Donations To Be Acknowledged

The ACT is the first jurisdiction in Australia for organ and tissue donations to be acknowledged on death certificates.

Families are also able to request a written letter form the Chief Minister acknowledging the gift of life.

From today, a donor’s next of kin can apply to have the statement “the deceased gave a gift of life, generously donating organs / tissue” added to the death register and the donor’s death certificate.
