The Molonglo River Bridge is one step closer after the ACT Government called for expressions of interest for the tender to build the 1 hundred and 50 million dollar project.
The $150 million project would create 500 jobs, finish John Gorton Drive and connect western Canberra.
The disconnect between the Molonglo Valley and Canberra has been a concern after heavy rain flooded Coppins Crossing and an accident simultaneously brought the Tuggeranong Parkway to a standstill last year, cutting off Molonglo residents.
The development is also being designed with a future light rail connection in mind.
The design phase is expected to last until mid next year with the bridge set to open at the end of 2025.
