ACT still set to exit lockdown despite high case numbers

The ACT Government is hopeful that case numbers will stabilise, with 32,000 more Canberrans expected to be fully vaccinated before lockdown ends.

The Territory recorded 38 new COVID cases yesterday, after consecutive days of 52.

This long weekend is seen as a critical juncture as to whether numbers will rise, or stay steady before we reach October 15.

Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith says now is not the time to be complacent.

“It is right across the community at the moment,’ said Minister Stephen-Smith.

“There is the potential for community transmission so please abide by the public health directions.”

The ACT’s first dose rate is now above 92 per cent.
