Zone Bowling Landlord Wants Site to Stay a Bowling Alley

The owner of Zone Bowling reportedly intends to rip out the bowling lanes and other facilities, rather than leave them behind as requested by the new owner, who had interest from an operator to continue running the facility as a bowling alley.

The Canberra Times reporting the lawyer, who grew up in Tuggeranong, bought the bowling alley as an investment, with no plans to redevelop the site, but to secure the facility for the local community.

The property was sold to the lawyer in late 2024, with Zone Bowling’s owner’s lease in Tuggeranong due to expire in June of this year.

Under the terms negotiated in 2022, the company had the option to extend the lease by five years three times, meaning it could feasibly be extended from 2026 to, eventually, 2041.

However, the Zone Bowling group owners have since said that they were unable to reach terms that would allow them to continue operating at the location.
