The new signalised pedestrian crossing on Canberra Avenue near St Edmund’s College and St Clare’s College is now officially turned on.

While some minor finishing works, including landscaping, will continue over coming weeks, the crossing is fully operational and provides a safer way for pedestrians to cross Canberra Avenue.

The public is asked to take care around the work site, follow all signage and traffic directions, and slow down to the temporary speed limits when travelling through the area.

St Edmund’s principal, James Keeley, has reportedly welcomed the crossing but is calling for a school zone to be established out the front.

The crossing was built after a serious incident last year where two St Eddie’s boys were injured in a hit and run collision.
