ACT Policing has extradited a 29-year-old man after he fled interstate while waiting to be sentenced for a robbery that occurred in 2022.
It’s alleged he and another man robbed a man at knifepoint in Gungahlin in August 2022, before being arrested and charged with joint commission aggravated robbery and theft.
He pleaded guilty in March 2023 and was released on bail ahead of his sentencing in April 2024, but police allege he failed to appear and fled interstate.
Enquiries found he was serving a sentence in a NSW prison and following his release on Tuesday, he was arrested by ACT Policing officers and extradited to Canberra.
The man is set to appear before court today.
