A 25-year-old man has been charged with family violence offences after he allegedly burned his partner with a cigarette and assaulted her.

On March 23, police attended a Canberra hospital to speak to the victim after she sought medical treatment.

Police will allege the man assaulted his partner in early March, causing serious injuries.

He then allegedly assaulted her on the weekend, punching her and burning her with a cigarette.

He was located in Symonston yesterday afternoon and arrested.

The man, who was subject to bail conditions, will face the ACT Magistrates Court on March 25, charged with five counts of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
