A 42-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman have been charged following dangerous driving in Dickson early this morning.

About 2am today, police saw a white Kia Sportage parked on Wilshire Street in Dickson, however when the driver noticed police he drove off. Officers directed him to stop, but he failed to do so.

The Kia was later seen on Macarthur Avenue travelling 140km/h in an 80km/h zone. The driver again refused to stop for police.

The car then left the road and drove onto a greenbelt for a short distance before it collided with a tree.

The driver and female passenger tried to flee on foot but were apprehended by police a short distance away.

A search of the pair and vehicle uncovered small amounts of substances believed to be methamphetamine, and GHB, and a pair of knuckle dusters.

The man was subject to bail conditions and the woman was subject to an arrest warrant.

Both have been charged with multiple offences.
