The ACT Greens are launching a motion that calls for major restoration of the Government’s approach to public transport.

Set to be put forward later this week, the motion asks the Government to lodge a Works Approval Application for Light Rail Stage 2B with the National Capital Authority by the end of 2027, and to include the Mawson extension.

ACT Greens Transport Spokesperson Andrew Braddock says the Mawson extension allows people to access the light rail without going to Woden town centre.

The motion also calls for funding for the Belconnen Bus Transitway, planning work for future light rail from Kippax to the Airport, and to rapidly grow Canberra’s electric bus fleet to keep up with demand.
