Public transport users will begin saving on travel costs from today, with monthly fare caps reduction now in effect across Transport Canberra bus and light rail services.

Until June 30, the ACT Government has temporarily reduced monthly fare caps on public transport in response to ongoing cost‑of‑living pressures associated with the global fuel shock.

The reduction means passengers will reach free travel sooner each month, with all bus and light rail trips free for the remainder of the month once the cap is reached.

The temporary reduction aims to deliver targeted relief to travel costs and will expand the free travel benefits to more users of public transport.

The City and Environment Directorate says the measures reassures that the cost of travel will be contained to a monthly maximum when they use public transport.
