A prescribed ecological burn will commence today at Coombs Peninsula today, July 31, subject to weather and fuel moisture conditions.

The prescribed ecological burn is being conducted to restore the grassland in the area.

A prescribed cultural burn at Nadjung Mada Nature Reserve near Mitchell will also commence tomorrow, August 1.

The cultural burn will be conducted with Ngunnawal community representatives to restore native vegetation using traditional burning techniques.
