Rocky Harvey, a business owner in the Snowy Mountains, who left a horse’s head at the National Parks office at Jindabyne on Friday, has hit back at reports linking him to Brumby Advocacy Groups.

“I’ve never been an activist in my life, I’m not associated with any groups, this is a one off that I felt very strongly about,” Mr Harvey said.

Mr Harvey says he was shocked that Parks left dead horses to rot near public campgrounds and waterways.

Following last week’s cull, the bodies of half a dozen horses were left by a stream about a kilometre from the Gungarlin Campground, along a popular hiking trail.

National parks have called Mr Harvey’s action despicable; he’s been fined $500 over the incident.
