Court today for a 24 year old Belconnen man after he was found in possession of a 3D printed gun and a large knife in the City bus interchange.

About 3:15pm yesterday, officers were patrolling on Alinga Street when they saw a man damaging a pole at the City bus interchange.

Police attempted to speak with the man, however he violently resisted and attempted to fight the officers.

He was subsequently arrested, and during a search of his belongings, officers found a 40-centimetre long curved knife, as well as a 3D printed firearm, various firearm parts and ammunition.

ACT Policing reminds the community it is an offence to carry knives or other bladed weapons without a reasonable excuse, with self-defence not a reasonable excuse.

Anyone who has information about the creation or possession of 3D printed guns is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
