ACT Police and ACT Corrective Services have conducted a joint operation on the weekend, targeting the movement of contraband into the Alexander Machonochie Centre (AMC).
Between 1pm and 6pm on Saturday, people seeking to visit the centre were the focus of an overt activity.
During the operation, vehicles were stopped and searched, licence and vehicle checks were conducted and vehicles attempting to avoid the operation were intercepted by Road Policing Officers.
Three positive drug driving tests were recorded, four vehicle defect notices and six traffic infringement notices were issued, with multiple items seized pending further examination.
One visitor was also turned away from AMC after breaches of visitation rules.
Anyone who has information about the movement of contraband into any ACT prison is urged to contact Crime Stoppers via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
