Residents just south of Queanbeyan are set to receive government funding to tackle lead contamination.

The NSW Government have announced a $1 million community fund to help Captains Flat residents deal with lead contaminated soil on their properties.

This year’s NSW Budget’s investment will go towards supporting practical works like applying clean topsoil and re-turfing affected areas to reduce exposure to legacy lead contamination.

Member for Monaro, Steve Whan, has welcomed the announcement.

“This funding is a win for the community of Captains Flat and provides crucial financial assistance
for families impacted by legacy soil contamination.”
