The Federal Government have come under fire from the Canberra Liberals over the changes to the higher private health insurance rebate for Australians aged 65 and over.

The Opposition Leader and Liberal Senate Candidate for the ACT teaming up to call on the Federal Government to abandon the proposed removal of the higher rebate and consult with states and territories over the potential impact to their health systems.

Nick Tyrell, Liberal Senate Candidate for the ACT, says the changes won’t do any good.

“Canberrans deserve better than Federal Labor running roughshod over the Territory and heaping extra pressure onto our local public hospitals. We need full transparency on the modelling and genuine consultation with the ACT before this change proceeds.”
