The owner of the embattled Big Splash has put the water park up for sale.

Consultants Purdon Associates (CPA) say now that the new site fencing and general clean-up is complete, all efforts are focused on making the main pool operational by November 1.

CPA say to make it operational and to ensure it is safe, temporary ticketing, change rooms and food service facilities will be installed while the slides and existing buildings won’t be demolished but a new internal fence will separate the main pool from these areas.

The first mortgagee will soon begin to market the site for sale as is.

Amelia Tattam, chair of Save Big Splash, says this is a huge step in the right direction for preserving the slides.

“This is the news we have been fighting for. The slides are staying and the lease goes with the site, and now the right operator has the chance to step in and give this place the future it deserves.”
