A woman has been taken to hospital in a critical condition following a crash on the Monaro Highway.

The accident happened in Tuggeranong last night between Isabella and Johnson drives – closing the southbound lane for some time.

Firefighters had to free the teenager from her car after it flipped on its side.

Paramedics treated her at the scene for abdominal and multiple lower limb injuries.
