The Draft Southern Gateway Planning and Design Framework is now open for public consideration.

The long-term plan sets out a vision for how the gateway, extending from Parliament House to Farrer, could develop over the coming decades.

The Framework divides the corridor into four distinct precincts, which includes key centers Curtin, Mawson and Woden town centre, and follows major transport routes along Adelaide Avenue, Yarra Glen Drive and Athllon Drive.

Running along the new light rail route to Woden and beyond, the framework recommends spaces for new homes, transport, jobs, green spaces and community facilities.

The Property Council of Australia has welcomed the ACT Government’s release of the draft, describing it as an important step towards delivering more homes in well-connected locations across Canberra.

Property Council ACT & Capital Region Executive Director Ashlee Berry said the draft framework recognised the need to plan for growth and provide more housing choice along a key transport corridor.

Feedback can be given at pop ups at key locations, through an online survey, or during an online feedback session on August 6th.
