A campaign is underway to save the Red Hill Post Office, however, it may be too late.

It’s been severing the local community for more than 50 years, but will close, a week before Christmas.

The current tenant in the post office had decided to relinquish the lease – and eventhough a new one’s been found – Australia Post won’t enter into an agreement.

The next closest post office is in Garran… two bus rides away… or in Manuka where parking is difficult.

A petition to save the local outlet, has already been signed by hundreds – and the Member for Canberra Alicia Payne has written to Australia Post’s Managing Director, expressing concern at the lack of community consultation.
