Canberrans are being asked to spare a thought for those on the Gold Coast.

Infact,  the scene is repeated in Brisbane as four million people “Stock Up” for the potential of widespread power outages that could last for days.

Heavy rain and very strong winds have started across the region.

Gold Coast Airport has closed until further notice which means there are no flights between the national capital and the glitter strip.

All public transport will end with the final service on Wednesday Night.

The cyclone is predicted to reach landfall in the early hours of Friday morning.
