Member for Bean David Smith has opened a new classroom at Canberra Montessori School through the Capital Grants Program.

The Montessori method of education is a type of educational method that encourages children’s natural interests and activities rather than formal teaching methods, placing an emphasis on hands-on learning.

The $396,000 grant will will improve student educational outcomes at the school by developing real-world skills, such as problem solving and helping and teaching each other.

Mr Smith said the new facilities would benefit the students currently at the School, as well as the many students to follow in the future years.
