A 38 year old man from the Canberra suburb of Fisher has been charged after approaching a number of elderly people and asking them for money.

Police will allege the man lied to the elderly citizens and in some cases money was provided to the man.

The man was charged with 2 counts of obtaining property by deception, possession of stolen property and providing false details.

He was granted conditional bail and will face the ACT Magistrates Court next month.
