A 48-year-old man will face court today after allegedly assaulting his wife, stealing items from her, and resisting arrest.

Between June and July last year, the man allegedly assaulted his wife in the backyard of their home.

On Friday afternoon this year, the woman obtained a laptop computer and mobile phone from a domestic violence support service. When she returned home, the man allegedly took the electronic devices from her before locking her outside of the house.

Police attended the home on Saturday afternoon to arrest the man after the incidents were reported, however he ran away from police and resisted as officers were trying to arrest him.

He was arrested a short time later and transported to the ACT Watch House.

He has been charged with three counts of resist territory public official, and one count each of aggravated common assault and theft.
