A 40-year-old man has been extradited from Queensland after he allegedly assaulted his wife on multiple occasions in the ACT between 2024 and 2026.

Police will allege the man choked his wife to the point of unconsciousness, punched her and a bystander who attempted to intervene in the assault, and broke the windscreen of a vehicle she was driving.

The offences were reported to police and on Saturday, the 40-year-old man was arrested by Queensland Police in Gladstone.

He was extradited to the ACT yesterday and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
