Canberrans are being asked to rethink their route through the city centre.

It comes as lane closures and diversions are expected due to the construction of Stage 2 of the light rail.

The traffic disruptions are set to last several years with traffic on alternative arterial roads such as Kings Avenue and Parkes Way expected to rise by up to 60% during peak times as a result.
