As Defence looks to offload over 60 properties in its portfolio, the future of the Fairbairn Golf Course remains up in the air.

The course was established on a former Royal Australian Air Force base in the 1960s, with the site’s operators signing a five-year lease with the defence department last year.

Officials from the club have said the news of being sold has shocked them, as they feel left in the dark.

The course joins the potential sale of 67 defence-owned properties across the country, including the historical Victoria Barrack sites in other capital cities, as well as an RAAF base in the Blue Mountains.
