Applications are now open for the Community Garden Grants program.

A total of $40,000 is available in this round, with individual grants of up to $10,000 dollars per project to help community groups establish new gardens or enhance existing ones.

Applications will close on August 18th.

Minister for Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Water Suzanne Orr, is encouraging community groups across the territory to apply.

“Community gardens are at the heart of connected, resilient neighbourhoods, and we’re proud to continue supporting local groups through the Community Garden Grants program,” Ms Orr says.

“This year, we’re continuing to prioritise the removal of artificial grass, which contributes to urban heat, microplastic pollution and environmental harm. Replacing it with natural, living systems is a win for our climate and our community.
