Light Rail Stage 2A works are continuing on Commonwealth Avenue in May, and motorists are being urged to plan ahead.

Construction crews will undertake watermain, stormwater and utilities works, as well as installing the canopies at the City South and Commonwealth Park stops.  

To ensure these critical works can be carried out safely, temporary road and lane closures will be in place along sections of Commonwealth Avenue.

Works have been scheduled to minimise the number of closures needed to support multiple construction activities taking place.

Commonwealth Avenue traffic changes

8pm Friday 1 May to 5am Monday 4 May: Full closure of Commonwealth Avenue in both directions between Parkes Way and Vernon Circle.

8pm Friday 15 May to 5am Monday 18 May: Full closure of the northbound lanes of Commonwealth Avenue between the Parkes Way on ramp and Vernon Circle.

During May, there will be intermittent lane modifications and some lane reductions in place on Commonwealth Avenue northbound, between the Parkes Way on ramp and Vernon Circle.

Additional closures will be required during the year to allow the work to proceed safely.
