An independent review into the ACT Public School System has highlighted that the current system where schools are largely autonomous must change.

The review found schools faced very real funding pressures and that the challenges facing the system require a significant and sustained reform effort.

Elizabeth Lee, the ACT Shadow Education Minister, has slammed the Education Minister, saying the report confirms what the Opposition has been saying for years.

“The system is not working the way it should. Teachers are overwhelmed, schools are under pressure, and resources are not reaching the areas where they are needed most,” Ms Lee says.

“This Government ignored the warning signs, dismissed the evidence, and attacked anyone who raised concerns.”
