The ACT Government is investing 4 million dollars into a food waste recycling program.

The program will take place in selected Belconnen suburbs.

Ginninderra MLA Jo Clay says the initiative is a win for Canberrans who care about ending waste.

Ms Clay believes it will help Canberra to grow a circular economy and take real climate action.

Green-lid bins will change from garden waste only to food organics and garden organics (FOGO) bins under the pilot.

Households without a green waste bin will be provided one free of charge to maximise waste diverted from landfill.
