The tax office plans to use new technology in the search for tax cheats in Canberra.

The tax office wants a particular software tool for this year….

The tool would use social media and the dark web to find those in the A.C.T. who share or distribute information – on how to avoid paying the correct amount of tax.

The same tool was used by researchers in the U.K. Who spotted Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, before it happened, by finding the movement of vehicles that were about to cross the border.

No word on WHEN the software tool will begin the task, once the tax office locks it in.
