Lone Protester Surrounds Himself with Fuel Cans

Category: Capital Radio News

Police are speaking to a man who has surrounded himself with fuel cans near the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

Anzac Parade has been cordoned off as police attempt to negotiate with the man, who appears to be acting in protest.

Heavily-armed police with shields are taking part in the operation, and nearby roads have been shut down.

Witnesses say the man is dressed in a suit and tie and is sitting in a chair, drinking coffee.

Roads in the vicinity of Anzac Parade and Parkes Way will remain closed as police try and diffuse the situation.
