Spilt Milk Festival Pill Testing Abandoned

Category: Capital Radio News

Questions are being raised over whether The Federal Government intervened in a pill testing trial in Canberra.

The Spilt Milk music festival in November was set to host a national-first trial bringing in a private consortium to test illicit substances.

But the scheme was called off because appropriate documentation had not been provided.

That's despite the private company maintaining everything was in place for the trial to go ahead.

It's now been revealed Shadow Attorney General Jeremy Hanson wrote a letter Federal Counterparts Greg Hunt and Fiona Nash, asking for them to take action.

Commonwealth Park is controlled by federal agency the National Capital Authority, meaning the Turnbull Government could have intervened.

Mr Hanson says the Canberra Liberals stand-by their concerns on pill testing.
