Women travelling to Queanbeyan to save on abortion cost

Canberra women who are seeking an abortion are travelling to Queanbeyan to access drugs to avoid the cost of the ACT's government approved clinic

The Tabbot Foundation, which provides medical abortions services to women via a telephone consultation service claims women are accessing the required drugs via mail. 
 
 
Abortion in the ACT is not illegal -  provided its carried out through a government approved clinic. 
 
To avoid hefty fines, the Tabbot foundation has been sending the drugs to Queanbeyan, NSW - at around half the costs of an abortion conducted by the approved clinic in CIVIC.. 
 
Health Minister Simon Corbell has acknowelged ACT legislation does not differentiate between surgical and medical abortions and has requested ACT Healths advice on the need for legislative change.
