A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged for failing to comply with COVID-19 health restrictions in the ACT.

The man is alleged to have travelled to the ACT from Victoria on Wednesday and did not have an exemption from the ACT Chief Health Officer to enter the Territory.

ACT Policing has made several arrests to ensure community safety during the COVID-19 response and this is the first offence.

Detective Superintendent Jason Kennedy says the man was cooperative when taken into custody.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court.

Bail will be opposed.
