ACT Policing reminds Canberrans Gel Blasters are illegal

Category: Capital Radio News

ACT Policing is reminding the public replica firearms known as gel blasters are illegal in the Territory.
Police have seen an increase in the number of gel blasters this year prompting police to issue the warning.
A number of incidents have occurred recently including people carrying them for personal protection, pointing them at neighbours and posing selfies online.
Detective Sergeant Rodney Swain says people who produce gel blaster guns in public run the risk of Police viewing them as real weapons.
Earlier this year, a person was engaged by Police with a beanbag round used to subdue them, an incident of which could have ended a lot differently.
