A push to legalise voluntary euthanasia in the ACT may be a step closer with Opposition Leader Alistair Coe supporting a motion in the Legislative Assembly to lobby the Federal Government.

The bill by Brindabella MLA Tara Cheyne is calling on the Federal Government to repeal the 1996 Andrew's Bill, which void's the right of the ACT and Northern Territory Governments to legalise euthanasia.

Mr Coe has told the Legislative Assembly he's open to writing to the Prime Minister, but it has to be far more meaningful than just a Political Statement.
