The ACT government wants to make it easier for Canberrans to change the sex on their birth certificate.
Chief Minister Andrew Barr says the government is developing an online-based system for managing birth certificates, which would allow people to choose a sex they identify with.
At this stage, the Capital of Equality Strategy does not include plans to make the inclusion of a sex marker optional,as is the case in Tasmania, but Mr Barr says that could be considered in the future.
