Father of Canberra drug dealer avoids jail

Category: Capital Radio News

A Canberra father who let his son deal tens of thousands of dollars worth of drugs from their family home in Calwell has avoided jail time.

19 year old Corey Conomos was a low-level dealer in a syndicate operated by former cafe owner Brendan Baker.

His father Jason was also charged with being knowingly concerned with trafficking ice and cannabis, with the offences carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years' jail.

But the 38 year old has escaped with a 21 month sentence, to be served in the community.
